Nutritional testing laboratory at i2 FAST
All nutritional testing is carried out at the high-spec i2 FAST nutritional testing laboratory in Poland. Samples are transferred daily using our dedicated internal logistics service and received for testing at our UKAS accredited facility; samples are then analysed and reported in accordance within the time-frame agreed. The nutritional testing laboratory provides reporting times of standard five working days, with a three day reporting service available upon request.
Nutritional lab analysis is available on a wide range of foods in general. Full details are shown in our scope of UKAS accreditation.
Our highly skilled technical team can provide help and advice on data as well as tailored reports to meet the requirements of retailers. Our special report format for surveillance work shows data on the packaging together with analytical information and its conformity based on defined tolerances.
The nutritional testing laboratory at i2 FAST provides analysis for a range of accredited tests including:
Moisture
Ash
Fat
Protein
Dietary Fibre (AOAC 991.43)
Fatty Acid profile (incl. cis, trans, monounsats, sats, polyunsats, omegas)
Total sugar and profile (galactose, glucose, fructose, sucrose, lactose, maltose)
Sodium – reported as salt
Analytical data will be used to calculate the energy (kilo joules), energy (kilo calories), total and available carbohydrates, and starch content.
The term ‘salt’ must be used as per Consumer Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 as salt content is more readily understood by consumers than ‘sodium’. The amount of salt in a product is calculated by determining the total sodium in a product (naturally occurring, and that deriving from salt and other additives) and multiplying by 2.5.
Samples for nutritional testing can be tested raw or as cooked following packaging instructions.
